I work at a company where we manage a lot of Checkpoint firewalls. Most of them run on the Nokia platform.
Lately we've encountered a new strange problem. Quite a lot of our Nokia firewalls reboot spontaniously and quite a lot of times. The problem is that there isn't a single line of logging to give us an indication about what could be wrong.
At this moment it's becomming quite anoying, cause to many Nokia firewalls (IP120, IP330) are having this problem,
Does anybody had this problem also and can someone give me some hints where to look for the cause or maybe someone even has the sollution. It would be greatly appreciated
We've had this problem with several IP330's and it was caused by a known system board fault. Check out Nokia knwoledge base article "15765 - Product Notice (PN-0003) Nokia IP330 Spontaneous Reset", it affects all IP330's shipped before 10th Feb 2003! Not sure if it affects IP120's though so your problem could be something else.
Also worth checking if you've upgraded to AI recently (rather than freshly installed) is Nokia article 18074 which states that on the Nokia platform in a HA config, memory leaks can occur following the upgrade. Eventually causing reboot.
