I have a Nokia RL50 Appliance that is about 3.5 years old, and sooner or later the HD is going to fail. This appliance has 3 NICs, 1 serial, and 1 console port, no floppy. I have an IPSO boot disk, IPSO gzipped on a CD and checkpoitn 4.1 on a CD. If i were to replace the failed hard drive, how would I get the appliance to boot without a floppy disk considering that the MBR would be empty and there would be no boot manager or OS on the new hard drive. Could I open the case and hook up a floppy disk to the mother board. And if so, is there an ftp client on the boot disk; Could i ftp the IPSO gzip file and decompress and install or does anyone have another suggestion of how i would be able to re-install IPSO, and checkpoint onto an nokia RL50 appliance.
