Where's Nokia going with this feature, and why would they suggest we don't want to implement it?

The simplified VRRP is much easier to use than the legacy VRRP.  I've used recently in IPSO 3.7.1 build 004 and I like it a lot.  simplified VRRP will save you a lot of time and avoid mistakes in Legacy VRRP.
